STICKS / BRUSHES / MALLETS
A drummer should have a variety of sticks, mallets, and brushes. One of the ways to get different sounds from your drum set is to use different equipment to strike it. Thickness, length, and material play a key role is finding the right sound for the job. Brushes and mallets play an important roll too. Go experiment and build a collection. You will want to store them in a stick bag.
